Organisation: Beate Ceranski (Stuttgart)
During the last years, the easy access and widespread use of ever more sophisticated Large Language Models (LLMs) has changed teaching and grading in the humanities. This roundtable brings together the perspectives of the history of science, technology, and medicine on the specific issues in our fields. It is meant to both profit from and at the same time enrich the more general discussions at the university departments. While sharing many practical concerns on essay writing, prompt editing, grading papers etc. with other historical fields, the history of science, technology and medicine also addresses the underlying epistemic transformations. By sharing perspectives and experiences from both practical and epistemic aspects the Roundtable can help to deal with LLMs in university teaching and to strengthen our field within the larger university landscape.
